On two fronts, really. My Merak was featured in Classic & Sportscar magazine in August, and I forgot to post a notice on here, which was a bit daft. It was paired up against a Ferrari 308. I was sent some extra photos and can post up here if anyone's interested. Secondly, I told my wife I was going to sell it, without having bought a replacement first (usual MO). Luckily, I managed to rectify this rather hastily a couple of weeks later when I was with the C&SC guys at Le Mans Classic, and told the deputy ed that I was going to buy a 308 - he couldn't resist that for a conclusion to the piece, and when my wife read the article, she said 'Oh, so we're buying a Ferrari now'. Couldn't have worked out better if I'd planned it. Anyway, I've now backed away from selling the Merak - it's just too good, and I'm very lucky to have such a good one. This is because I have a hunch that developed into an inkling and is now looking like something that with hindsight will have been bleeding obvious that Meraks are on the way up, and significantly. The C&SC article originally pitched the value at 15-20k, but then some informed investigation led them to rewriting the title at 25k-plus (and around 30k for a good one). I also noted that in one of the classic mags recently the dealer Tom Hartley said that Meraks are his top tip: they're undervalued, and he recommended buying a good one at 30k if you can find one. My reason for replacing the Merak with a 308 was that Ferraris tend to head out of sight, and I didn't want to miss out (a while ago 288 GTOs were just about feasible, but now they're 400k!). If the Merak is going up too, I'll hang on to it. Bit of a rambling post, but then I haven't been on here for a while
