With the current run of high quailty films on Sky at the moment I did think;

Seagal - before he put the weight on

or

Van Damme.

My wife and I did feel that Seagal was the better actor, but maybe Van Damme was the better "action man" ??

Im a Bob Mitchum or Jimmy Stewart fan myself       That Van dim and Seagull arent they two of the Telly Tubbies

As action heroes they do tend to  escape out of predicaments a bit too often, especially when held at gun point ,   in reality  most captors   would just pop a 9mm in the kneecap       lets see em escape then

regards loz

Seagal every time. Van Damme is just a glorified dancer. Seagal carries a bit of extra timber alot better than Van Damme can too  Ooh, Seagal on Five tonight http://www.mydigiguide.com/dgx/wbl.dll?a=6&h=49&PID=24095 More straight to DVD Gold!

Oh the stick I'm about to get now!

I'm a VD man (That sounds bad). I'm in to my bodybuilding and train when I can, so I have to admire Van's build. His body was possibly one of the most perfect and well ballanced, in the world. Yes, he did do ballet, but those guys are bloody fit and it helped him with his martial arts. You have to be very fast and accurate to do ballet and you need the same to be good at martial arts.

Hey Predator. It's all friendly banter. I am no expert on male bodies, so I'll leave that topic aside I agree with you on the finesse of a ballet dancer. And that was kinda of my point - my understanding was that JCVD was actually a dancer by training, with no formal martial arts training. His signature moves, high kicks and the like, are easily done by most dancers on pop videos. (Please correct me if I am wrong regarding him having no martial arts training). You do make a good point though. JMVD has the build of a body builder. He is as wide as he is tall ... but I doubt most body builders, as you say, could dance/fight/whatever as he does.

Seagal, I believe, did train properly in martial arts in the Far East although not to the level he claims apparently. Bottom line, I reckon Seagal could take JMVD

Hello tbody,

JCVD did have an early martial arts career and was very promising, but that doesn't pay like the movies, lol.

To be honest, Steven would probably wipe the floor with him. I believe there were many CIA links to him in his early days, but I've no idea what is true or not.

Just to really mix things up, I would love to see Dolph Lundgren fight the winner. He has a long martial arts career!

Hey. Interesting. I stand corrected re. JCVD. But neither he nor Segal are a match against the might of Ivan Draga, "I must break you". I really do miss the Eighties

That's the problem with the youth of today Loz, no respect for the older generation. Just as well that you didn't mention Johnny Weissmuller though, they might have thought it was the name for a new-fangled yoghurt.

Arnie gets all the best lines, not Segal or JCVD

I was informed last week by a Wing Chun-practicing taxi driver that the best martial arts movie out there is 'Warriors Two'. Anything Brucie style has surely got to be half decent, though I can't see it topping 'Enter the Dragon'.

I love martial arts, but got my butt completely kicked out of sight in the one competition I fought in.

Careful Andrea. Apparently when he screen tested Jenny Mcarthy for a film, at his home, she said he practically insisted she had to sleep with him to get the part, and she basically described him as a 'dirty old man with a dodgy wig'. Note to self: must stop reading the wife's OK magazine

Bruce Lee was indeed the daddy. Gracious too. I remember him being asked in an interview if he could kick Muhammad Ali's butt, and he said no way. Of course, he could have quite easily - he was truely amazing. Tragic loss, both him and his son. I also remember watching Enter The Dragon for the first time, what a classic, rushing out and buying a pair of nunchucks. After boshing myself in the face, I felt it was best left to the experts. Still have the nunchucks though But hats off to you masersod for giving it a go. But you should have used Daniel-sun's crane kick from the end of Karate Kid 1.
