Evening all

I know this has been discussed before, but I'm having no luck and need your help, again!

An inside light was left on over night thanks to my 2 year old son, its seems from this power drain that the driver seat and the wing mirrors no longer works (although the passenger seat is fine!)

I have tried following the procedures but without success. Moving the forwards/backwards button 2 times and then tilting the seat forwards after opening the door does nothing?

Can anyone suggest what else I can do? Am I not following the correct proceedure?

I appreciate (as always) your help

Mark

Turn the battery off overnight, after fully charging it of course.

Its worth a try, sounds like your electrics have got their knickers in a twist, battery reset can help sometimes.

Do the seat thing with the ignition on, then switch it off an try again.

Thanks for this. The battery is brand new so fully charged.

How do I turn the battery off and will this solve the issue I described?

Cheers, Mark

on top of the batter, which is behind the right hand boot panel, there is a large round knob/switch above the terminal towards the front of the car, turn it about a quarter of a turn to isolate the battery. Leave it off for a couple of hours (you could try just 10mins to start with) then switch it back on and see if that's sorted it. If it does not, its will need to be plugged in to the diagnostics, I assume you have checked the fuse below the passenger footwell carpet?

Hi, thank you for the reply.

Apart from trying the reset routine, I have not tried anything else.

Is it easy to tell which fuse relates to the seats etc? With the passenger seat still working ok, could it be a fuse or is this on a different fuse?

Sorry for the ignorance on these matters!

Mark

If you open the fuse panel, there are 4 modules with plastic covers on them, remove the cover from the first (left hand side) bank, and you will see 4 large relays, and 6 smaller fuses. The drives seat is the 30A fuse top left, the top right one is the passenger seat. (or vice versa depending upon left or right hand drive.)

The fuses are non standard, they are like normal 2 prong fuses, but about half the size so you would be wise to get some first, garages don't do them, it will be from an auto factors or Halfrauds.

Good luck, hope this helps.

Has been posted before, but I cannot find it on the forum, so...(and note the timing in the reset procedure)

Reset seat tilt memory
--------------------
Open the driver's side door and QUICKLY (must all be completed within 5 seconds) click the fore/aft adjuster forward-backward-forward-backward (just click - you don't need to move the seat much at all), then release the seat back and tilt it all the way forward. The seat will then go through a calibration cycle sliding all the way forward and back twice.

Seat memory set:-
------------------
Adjust the seat to the disired position.
Turn on ignition but do not start the engine.
Tilt the seat forward.
With the seat still tilted forward, adjust the seat base as far forward as it will go.
Tilt the seat back.
The seat will then return to the desired position.
This reteaches the maximum movement of the seat too the memory.
This generally occurs when on eof two things has happened. 1) the seat has been left in the tilt forward position for too long, or 2) the seat was in the tilt forward position when the ignition position was changed, either turned on or off.

The memory & tilt/slide had stopped working on both my seats. I tried the seat reset method to no avail. When I dropped into Giallo a couple of weeks ago they disconnected the seat wiring, cleaned the connectors and put them back together. Instantly working again and no charge - thanks again guys!

Worth a try Mark?

An old thread, but Sooo useful - should it be a sticky?

Just a note to thank conaero and barbuckle for their input. My driver seat stopped moving altogether, checked the fuse (it is fuse 1 in the box under the passenger footwell, test by removing and swapping for the passenger seat fuse 2). Fuse was fine. Tried the reset routine, nothing. Tried disconnecting the seat plug (fiddly to reach, under the seat) no good. Finally tried the battery off, wait 2 mins, battery on. Bingo - all fine again.

Used the reset routine to clear settings and then reset the seat to where I wanted it.

Thanks Guys - wouldn't have had a clue without you.

Cheers

Axs.

The reset procedures (thank you barbukle) have now been made stickies in the 3200 & 4200/GS sections in the 'Technical' area.

Might be worth mentioning the 'battery off' trick to reset a 'stuck' seat too (since this was what actually solved my problem)?

While I'm posting does anyone know which actual 'size' the fuses are? Halfrauds offer three sizes, standard (which are the big ones) 'mini' which look right but it's hard to be sure, and 'micro' which look too small on the website. My guess is 'mini' is right but can anyone confirm this?

(I want to buy some spares as there don't seem to be any supplied, and I don't really want to take a fuse out just to take it into the shop with me!)

Posting in here to mark it for me tomorrow. Electric mirrors and seat stopped working over the weekend so I will try some of these fixes.

Turned the battery off for an hour and seat and mirrors back to normal working order.
