Hello All,

This is my 1st post and am looking for a some advise.

Possibly making a decision soon - next week?, on a purchase of either a QP or GT both 08/09 plates+. I've read everything i can about reviews from all the auto mags and feedback is obviously good.
What i need though, is someone who has got one and lives with it every day. My big worry is any historic reliability issues. All the mags say that it is comparible to German levels, but if someone has a day to day experience of either of the cars, then your advise would be great. I just dont want to be in a position in say 15 months time or sooner, where things start to go fundamentaly wrong with it. I dont think that will happen, but you never know
So, if you can help, would appreciate some of your advise. It will be used daily and about 15-20k per year

Cheers

Peter

Hi Peter and welcome.
I am now on my third Maserati, Gransport for 2 years then QP for 1 year and now GT for 3.5 years (all used for 12k plus miles/year). It would be fair to say that the GS did have a few reliability issues (nothing major) but both the QP and the GT have been superb! At the same time as owning these my wife has had the usual German offerings (5 series, M3 and now C63 AMG) and I have to say these have all had more issues than the QP or GT so don't let reliability drive your decision.
As a daily driver both a QP or a GT make fantastic cars and turn every trip into an event.
Cheers and good luck.

Peter

One thing you would have to accept is that most people expect to buy a Maserati with low to average mileage and at 15 to 20k/year when the time comes you would probably have to take a hit.

Welcome to the forum Peter.

In addition to the above I would say that I would negotiate a good price on extended warranty up front (assuming you are keeping the car for 2+ years).

Though they are reliable, it only takes one or two things for the costs to start mounting...

Also, with a good dealer I have found Maserati to be much more generous and relaible in enforcing the warranty fairly. This was my most marked difference of experience coming from many years of BMW ownership.

Best of luck in your purchase.

Shak

Guys,

Thanks so much for the advise:

Funnily enough, i've been told that i may have to take a hit if the miles are high after 2 years, but hoping to offset it a little with a higher downpayment etc? Not quite sure yet

Glad to hear about the no issues, thank you its great piece of mind. Also, with egards to the warranty, appreciate the advise, i will talk to them about it it

Cheers All, much appreciated

I would agree with Shak, My experience of Maserati After Sales has been excellent! they replaced all four of my ball polished Birdcage wheels due to corrosion when my car was out of warranty unlike Mercedes were I am now trying to battle with them over faults with a C63 AMG which is only 8 months old.
