Right then carrying on from the 3200 orange warning light hijack!

Part 1:

Just booked the Ghibli in for MOT through Emblem for this Thursday PM....Martin is happy to provide a few coffees on Saturday morning 9th February so we can meet up before moving on..............that'll be part 2.....any suggestions?

There is a very nice Pub at Bank, tucked away just outside Lyndhurst in the New Forest. Or the World's End on the A31 in the other direction. Neither involve a particularly inspiring drive  just good food and beer (Hmmm) and a chance to chat.

Wide open for suggestions.......

So far:

Steverule
Loz
Paco
Malcolm h

Inspiring drives could be optimistic in any case - I reckon you need to travel around 20 miles from Poole before you can find anything fun to get your tyres in to .

Mind you, there is a fun light-traffic road out of Wimborne heading due north, up past Horton to Cranborne, there are pubs I don't know in Cranborne and Wimborne St Giles, or there's The Drover's (nice pub) up a fun road at Gussage All Saints (Turn left at Horton Inn), or a little further in to Dorset (like 5/10 minutes) there's the Museum at Farnham (not the Farnham) a pretty smart pub with very good food, but this requires a couple of miles of single lane action, and hence quite possibly a chance that your cars may get dirty!!  Good drive there via Sixpenny Handley though if you take the "long" way ....(take the B3081 left from Cranborne)

Easy access to all directions for those heading on afterwards too, East via Three Legged Cross to the A31, everywhere else via the A354 Blandford/Salisbury road.

Linky's

Map - road comes out of the top of Wimborne (B3078) to Cranborne then turns north west to Sixpenny Handley, which you can then drop down in to Farnham from.  Alternatively turn left on the little but fun road towards the Gussages (at Horton Inn - never tried but big carpark!), which brings you to the main Salisbury road, Farnham is a couple of miles the other side.

Better map! http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=405000&y=115000&z=5&sv=405000,115000&st=4&ar=N&mapp=newmap.srf&searchp=newsearch.srf&ax=401500&ay=100500

The Museum:
http://www.museuminn.co.uk/

The Drovers: http://www.ringwoodbrewery.co.uk/drovers.htm

I'm easy though, Lyndhurst may be more straightforward!

Edit- sorry the map is rubbish, can't get to centre correctly, you need to scroll left! - I'll try harder!!

Edit - map rectified thanks to streetmap!!!

I reckon I'm in (subject to SWMBO).

Why don't we just make the Lyndhurst one way system our track for the day (crawling round a 2mph suits my driving style).

I'll tell you what though, given that the Mas is my daily driver I'm sh*tting it at the mo, the roads are all seriously flooded and I fear the hydrolock.

Sounds an excellent idea, and right in my neck of the woods.  Count me in.  I can vouch for the quality of the food at the Museum Inn at Farnham, and the B3081 near there is a pretty good driving road - better now that it's been resurfaced.  Anyway, whatever the plan I'll do my best to come along.  Looking forward to meeting you all....

Update....had the Ghibli MOT'd this afternoon.....£96.00 including the ticket charge......a Maser bill under a ton!

The lads at Emblem seem as excited as we are.......

They would like to treat us to Coffee and croisants
They have offered to "fire up" their race simulators for some fun
They also offered to plug in anyones car for diagnostics if required
and of course impart their wisdom to the myriad of technical questions we might have
or just chat.

They have asked for a confirm during the week before.

Just the six of us still?

Great, they'll get the same oil pressure warnings they got the last time they did it!!

What time? From 9.30? 10? Lunch at 1?

How do we select stage 2?  If there's only six of us we could probably get away with a vote on the day!

I should havew thought 10ish, Loz has the longest drive i think, but the great thing meeting at Emblem is no real deadline.

Stage 2: vote on the day is good for me unless the numbers swell to a point where we need to do some forward planning and the departure time is down to the mood...if tyhe weather is fair we may feel adventurous for a longer drive if not keep it relatively local?

Good coffee would be nice if you're out there Myles!

Anyway, the old brain short circuited yesterday when the Misses said she wanted to tag along.  I told her it was just a load of old gippers greasing themselves up and hopefully that's put her off (if it hasn't then the marriage is in trouble).  Maybe she should come along actually it might be amusing, she sometimes gets the odd phrase mixed up, my favourite is old codger and old todger (many an upset pensioner)!!

PS I'm not saying you lot are old or anything, you know, no offense like, you're just all 20 years older than me! I'll expect a good kicking on the 9th then

I guess I'm an allcomer too, not feeling too veteran at 33

Make sure you stock up on Werther's for the long drive chaps, and don't forget to plan the comfort breaks along the way

As the date approaches it looks appealing (he says with one eye on the next cloudburst). But I dunno, with these youngsters turning up:

Is it likely to be noisy?
Will they be smoking that weed stuff you read about in the papers?
Will they be carrying spray cans?
How come they can afford cars like that anyway?

HUMPH!

BTW, will the biscuits be pre-chewed?

Sounds excellent guys! A vote on the day for Stage 2 seems a good idea. Thanks for the offer of a lift to Verwood Malc and Marc. However, I think I might just rebook my service to hang on to my car for another few days rather than bid farewell to her at Emblem on 9th Feb.

Righty, looks like I might be able to make it too so you can pencil me in on the list also..

Mine's a medium skinny capa-frapamochachino & one of those little biscuit thingies :P

What time at Emblem? (which until the other day I thought was in near brighton!) I'm coming from Reading-ish so as long as the pub's not a million miles the other way food sounds like a good plan.. we aiming for lunch or afternoon sncks & supplies?

As for youngers.. I'll bring my hoodie & some prit-sticks shall I? :D
