Loz, That's great - Thanks for the reminder!! I was there 6 weeks earlier, and pleased that I didn't see any ice on the road - did you leave Sport Mode on??? I've done the Stelvio before, but heading South and I found it disappointing - narrow and poor road surface was my recollection of it. However, this year I was heading North to do the Stelvio to Davos (Fluelapass) that Clarkson & Co raved about and I enjoyed it far more, though sadly it was rainy on the day I did it. I always enjoy the Alpine ascents better than the descents, so maybe the Northern-bound ascent is wider and beter surfaced? - or maybe I'm just a chicken! . That said, the run down towards Innertkirchen from the summit of the Susten Pass is the perfect demonstration route for the Cambiocorsa gearbox. Don't you find that the low camera position, whilst being very clear and accentuating the impression of speed, doesn't give the panoramic perspective you get from driver's eye? I have a Spyder and have done some short videos (digital still camera only...) from a mini-tripod positioned in the central locker just over the driver's left shoulder - but it tends to fall over on the third harpin I also tried previously using a full tripod behind the seats, with a shortened leg into the cup-holder...... but all the bubble-wrap that I used to protect the car's interior made so much noise with the top down that you couldn't hear the engine. For anyone who hasn't been there, perhaps my two favourite roads are still the Col du Mont Cenis between Susa and Lanslebourg, and the Gorge de L'Ardeche between Pont-St-Esprit and Vallon-Pont-d'Arc. These roads were just made for Maseratis If anyone has their own favourite roads - I'd certainly love to hear about them.... Steve.
