I'm really sorry Birdcage, but I'm getting completely turned off by the very particular treatment being metered out to certain long standing and knowledgeable members of this forum in relation to one other particular forum.

It seems each day I log in to see posts that have been deleted on what appear to be completely unilateral grounds.

I really cannot see any upside to this strategy, only downside.

Regards, Emtee.

Hi Miles,

Thank you for your feedback. Please appreciate that there are always two sides to every story, and as the admin of the site naturally I can't get into the habit of discussing every in and out online, and I have to bite my lip sometimes. Anyone is free to e-mail/pm me though as always, but I don't feel it's prudent to get into a 'he said/she said' narrative, either way.

I know your intentions are good and I thank you for trying to help things along, but in this instance you are going to have to trust my judgement. All forums go through cycles and changes, and we are not immune from similar issues I'm afraid. We do not have rules or guidelines in place here that do not exist on other well established forums. As such, the rules here which govern other creators/managers of similar forums who use this site, are fair I would suggest. As I have said previously, they are free to post on this site on any matter of topics should they choose too... but they are not to solicit for their forum's events/offers/site etc without contacting me first via pm/e-mail. Refusal to do so, will result in the offending post being removed. I don't think that is an unreasonable request.

The pm's and e-mails of support I have received recently leads me to believe that I am doing something right. Furthermore, I have noticed many old standing members and newer ones posting more actively recently too, which will provide a good platform for the future.

Thank you for your feedback, as always, and I have sent you an additional mail, as I have pretty much said all I can online on the matter.

Kind Regards,

Brian

Hmmm.....At the risk of sounding syncophantic:

I have to say the administrator's role is a nightmare!

Never has it been more true to say..." Youcan please some of the people some of the time, but you can't please all the people all of the time!"

It has to be said that this forum has been blessed to date with a lack of the spometimes childish back biting and slanging matches that go on on other forums.....and I am casting the net wide here to include all forums on many subjects......I had a jolly laugh a few weeks ago when the moderators on a photographer / modelling forum went all........."it's my ball and you can't play" and cut off their noses to spite their faces ......at least here you can have a different view / opinion and we don't have gatekeepers, moderators and all the other censorship that some have and for the most part debate is pleasant and informative and normally avoids becoming personal.

Gavin set this Forum up when a number of us enthusiasts felt the Owners club wasn't giving us what we wanted, no criticism of the club offered here....... just we wanted a less rigid format and impromptu meets etc etc at a time when the club didn't appear to want to. Several times before Brian took it on, the Forum creaked financially and a number of us rallied to help Gavin out. Both the Forum and the Club have moved on and as the Forum has developed I think Brian has done extremely well with it's development. As indeed the origins were a breakaway from the owners club then there will always be splinter groups.......I have seen it happen with owners clubs many times in the last 30 to 40 years as "owners registers" break away from "owners clubs" etc etc.  There is room for all.

I for one am grateful that Brian invested time and money and took over the forum from Gavin keeping the Forum running at a time when it seemed it wasn't going to last a lot longer and changed the model to ensure it's longevity. There is wealth of information on the Forum and a fantastic cross section of members. Most of us have met new friends and had enjoyed social meets. A club without subscriptions, we have membership not ownership. Maserati owners have come and gone and most have benefitted from the Forum whilst in ownership of their Masers, in fact one wonders if the cars are the members....several cars have changed hands and the new owners have joined the forum..............Now maybe that should be a thread, which car has had the most owners in continuous membership of the Forum...............

Long may the Forum continue............... it is no doubt bigger than all of us.......................

Just my thoughts
