Hopefully a simple question - have slow charged my battery in the car - no problem  I noticed when I came back from a run yesterday the meter needle was static in the "vertical position" red light went off when started - no battery warning light.  Put on lights etc and the needle still does not move?

Is this a simple meter problem eg needle sticking? or any other suggestions?  when I turn the engine off needle is static?  any suggestions - Thanks PeterC

Sounds like the needle is stuck to me, if it was the sender it would fall to the 0.

Have you tried a gentle tap on the screen...like in the old war films when they run out of fuel!

Thanks for that - I will try that but I was trying to avoid taking the dash out.  I was only wondering if their was any electrical issue which may cause this? Battery seems good - no problems starting does not move when the lights are put on so it could well be stuck?  I was looking for a new meter but could not see one on eurospares - just in case?

Thanks for the reply

Hi, Peter,

I don't think that any electrical issue could do that (except a failure that makes the meter to always receive power from the battery, even with contact off, but this seems strange). I would bet that the meter is stuck (and would test the tapping method as Safrane suggest). In any case, if you disconnect the battery and the needle does not move from the center... then it is stuck for sure.

I suppose that the meter alone is not sold as spare... usually it is the complete dashboard.

Regards,

Javier
