Dear All

We had an opportunity for an East coast outing at Hopetoun House recently and new West coast owners seem to be popping out of the wood work everywhere, which is great news.

There seems to be some appetite for an outing so this post is an effort to get something organised before the daylight hours up here shrink to about 4 hours.

Anyway, how about this as an approach. We aim low to begin with and target a (fullish) one day outing with a bite of nice lunch somewhere; with Glasgow as the start point. So this could include the likes of Rest and be Thankful, Trossachs Trail, Arran (if ferries suit) etc etc etc. To move things forward I suggest the following steps:-

1) Those interested in broad terms confirm availability for each of Saturday and Sunday from now to the end of October - this will generate the date that suits the most people.

2) Having agreed the provisional attendees that can make the most suitable date we then offfer up a list of outing options (happy for suggestions now) for a simple democratic vote. The option with the most votes wins.

That's it - simple in principle probably a nightmare in execution but I am game to try and organise something. Suggest it is strictly Maseratis only to keep any convoy/lunch booking to a manageable size.

I await feedback/comments/suggestions/date details with interest!! To try and introduce some sort of deadline I would ask for dates by noon this Friday - I will then revert next week with the date and kick off step 2).

Cheers

west of scotland is my old biking grounds, can happily remember the roads to inverary very well, did them once in the masser, very enjoyable, have a look on the maserati club website, they are planning a week long tour in swcotland next year, they might ahve some roads to remember, but it might be a bit far north for a 1 day event.

Can also recommend up to arrochar for a lorne sausage sarnie, then down towards callender for a spot of lunch then on towards stirling.

Can't make it though as I live in yorkshire now, but some bloody good roads to be had in the West Of Scotland

Hi lads

I can only make Sundays or Mondays, as you all work Mondays that narrows it down a bit as far as I'm concerned.

Good man Peter, I am keen to come up with something that suits everyone and your motor definitely adds a bit of interest if the rest are Coupes.

I will take it you are available all Sundays until end October unless you revert to the contrary.

Cheers

have a couple of suggestions for routes , they might be rubbish and feel free to amend/tweak/discard.
First the northwest route

Cameron House (A82)- Glenfruin Road (or B832 to Helensburgh) - A814 to Arrochar - A83 to Inverary - A819- A85 to Connel - A828 to South Ballachulish - A82 all the way back to Cameron House. Could go on to Ardnamurchan peninsula via Corran ferry but might be a bity to long.

Southern Route

BP Garage before PIK airport (Monkton) - A77-B742 to Dalrymple - B7045 to Straiton - B741 to Girvan - A714 Newton Stewart Lunch @ Kirroughtree house- A75 to Ringford - A762 to St Johns Town of Dalry - A713 - Start point

et voila

Thanks Andrew

All others, please volunteer and/or suggest over the week end. On Monday will lock down date and then move to agree route.

Obviously you can jump on board any time but you have a vote if you chip in now!!

Cheers

Apologies Andrew, got a bit behind with things.

My suggestion then is we aim for Sunday 11th October (as I can't make 4th).

Peter, does that suit you OK and how do you feel about the suggested routes? I think the northern run will be a bit more scenic but need to sit down and think how long it will take (any thoughts Andrew) as, personally, I will have the wife along and we would like a nice blend of driving  and leisurely lunching.

Let the debate continue!!

PS Anyone else out there, still feel free to join us on 11 October

No Worries - it should take about 4.5 hours driving wise according to Google (plus I factored in an extra 30mins) if you would like to trim/tweak please feel free to as its just a suggestion. eating wise at Inverary there is http://www.thegeorgehotel.co.uk/index.htm and for fuel and coffee at Tyndrum there is http://thegreenwellystop.co.uk/

Alrighty, so where best to meet up - at Cameron House??

Peter, if so by what time do you think you can be there as any meet up time (and return time) will need to align with your travelling to and fro on the Ferry

Cheers

Hi Andrew

I have dropped Peter a pm to see if he can make it and if the route works for him

Were you heading south on the A77 Monday 21/9 early afternoon? I passed a black Coupe (I was in the 156)?

Cheers
