Hi All
Malcolm and I are doing a wet handling day on the 21st March in the Ghibli.  It's organised by the Alpina Register, but other cars are of course welcome.
Should be good fun, and maybe useful pre event prep for the track day on the 26th March (or not).
Details here:
http://www.thealpinaregister.com/rockinghamwethandlingday.php
Let me know if you want to attend, Malcolm and I are doing an afternoon slot.

I don't think helmets are required as it is a safe environment.  Nothing to hit apart from water!

I have to be honest Loz and say I don't know.  I know they have run about 4 others in the past and get good reviews.  One person loves it so much they have been every time!
I'll see if I can find out.

Ok, this is what I've heard back:
"Its hard to quantify individual time as the day just flows - the sessions run for 9-12.30 and 1-4.30 - so both are c. 3 1/2 hours in total.
There are 3 bits to the day - basalt tiles, kick plate and crescent and the general flow is to do each of these in turn. Generally there will be time left over and people are asked to choose what they want to spend the time doing - which usually means the crescent (as everybody grapples with drifting (or trying to)
The sessions are split into 2 groups each with c.6 cars - 1 group on 1 group off alternatively. With people in the active group taking turns. Only 1 car is allowed on at once, so as one completes their attempt, the next car enters etc. Each person get multiple gos at each activity.
I guess the best way I can quantify it is that everyone who's been on has been happy with the day and what they get out of it.
"

Hope it helps.

aargh, I'd love to do this, but I'm out of the UK on the 21st. Will keep my eyes peeled for the next one.

Big thanks to Rich for helping organise this one (for me!)

I have to say I thought it was awesome fun - how often do you get your masser sideways, and get to finish a 720 with a smile on your face??

The highlight is the drifting section where you can attempt some sliding a la Clarkson without destroying your tyres....("attempt" being the  operative word!)

Rockingham is the only place in the UK where the public can use a facility like this that includes different road tractions and a kickplate - I'll certainly be doing the next one that's available

on that note, would there be demand from others to do a "Masser Forum  Wet handling day"???

i'd be back in a heart beat.....

Yep it has to be said it was fantastic fun!  I'd have liked a bit more time on the drifting session, but overall I feel a lot more confident about how the car handles and how to control it in the wet.  I certainly think we should organise a Maserati event and I'd happily do it again and again!
Be interesting to look at the options for organising a rockingham track day and wet handling day combined.

Quite a few of your GS simon.  I have some vids too, but they are not that great, as the camera was running out of battery (forgot to charge it!)
