I have seen threads on Porsche and Ferrari forums like this and it's pretty interesting to see the variety in the type of people who own these cars.

Personally I drive a 4200 and I own a travel company on the European mainland. I live in Bulgaria and it's a pretty macho place here, where you are what you drive and following the fall of communism, materialism is king. The car gets a huge number of gawps and the police here are generally toothless so I get a giggle out of spinning the wheels when I drive past a control point.

Just curious. How do you earn your daily bread? And what car do you drive and what do you get out of it? Are you a stockbroker driving the latest Gransport or a medical student driving a Biturbo?

Yup, in a manner of speaking

I have my own company, I advise private and corporate clients on Investment and Pension Portfolios, Tax planning etc, and a considerable portion of my work involves showing folk how a properly devised portfolio outperforms one flogged by a Bank's "adviser", so I happily "rob" them of clients and funds under management!

I am also a partner in a business providing advice on property investment, in the UK and abroad, which runs in parallel with the regulated financial practice.

I think the self-employment/own business will be a common theme in this thread!

I'm a network consultant - I used to do it freelance through my own company, which enabled me to spend several months each year sailing in the Caribbean between contracts.  Now that my boat and I are back in the UK I'm working as a full-time employee, although fortunately I'm able to work from home a couple of days each week.

I'm MD of a brand communications company, specialising in Professional Services. Set up the business over a decade ago now and have been my own boss for 14 years - don't think I could work for someone else (though I suppose I work for my clients really) - more to the point I don't think anybody would employ me!

I'm an Exploration Geologist for BP, currently in Angola for 5weeks. Hence all my posts about battery cut-off switches and so on. Month on month off usually so I shall be having some European adventures this year... Great way to keep the miles down, but they rack up fast when I'm back

the 4200 is a great car to come home to as well, looking forward to getting in after 5 weeks away!

I invest in property, and own a web-based company selling agricultural chemicals. I guess that ties the two top responses together (internet and property), with a dose of muck-spreading for good measure.

I'm an IT consultant, have been freelance since 89. All my work since 93 involved with testing - systems, s/w, business process, etc - but from a business perspective. So don't ask me how to fix your PC! Last time I was technical was with IBM mainframe s/w in 80s. Worked for some interesting clients, including testing part of Ken's congestion charging - aaaaaarrrrrgggghhh it works, sorry guys!

Never quite managed to park a Maser in a client's MD's car parking space yet!

hey rogh you might know my big brother!!!!!!!!!!!! he was big in mainframes around then although I believe he was with the big B at that time.
a bit later - before the big decline he ran his own mainframe consultancy software design business - then spent ten years sorting out all the faults created by the sudden influx of freelance programmers who didnt really  know  what they were doing.
