Ok well watched the friendly last night, and as much as  I would like england to do well I am afarid i don't see it. To many of our "good" players on low form or not played enough this season. Rio looks like he needs to be on WD40 24/7 the way he was running for example.

That said you have to be positive and I am going England to get to the semi final, but Spain to win.

What does everyone else think?

I think England has a very fair chance, though I reckon it's Argentina's to lose.

Have to agree with BigFoot, really fancy the Argentinians to reach the semi's at least. Provided Diego Maradona plays Messi on the right, Tevez on the left and Diego Milito down the center after his 2 clinical finishes in the Champions League Final. If he plays Gozalo Higuain of Madrid that will mess things up. It would be great to see Zanetti from Inter to make the Argentinian World Cup squad, at 37 he is still quicker and wiser then most defenders around.

Fishtank no doubt Rio seems no where close to full fitness after injury, Capello certainly has a problem at the back. Maybe he can give JT and King a go. Fingers crossed for England. Also with Torres recovering from injury i think Spain as favourites will face an upset

Now you come to mention it the argies look bloody strong. JM as a holding midfileder messi, mitito, its a strong 11 but do they have the depth that spain does?

I see Barry been given another week to prove his fitness as i think he is the key to the gerrard/rooney up front tactic.

hmmm i know what you mean. I have a theory though that we will win a scappy 1-0. I will be happy though as this means we are following an Italian script now. Awful in the first game, just fluke the second, win the third and then onward to at least the semi finals :) Well here is hoping anyway!

Well the draw feels worse than a defeat, England really did not play up to their potential.

Guys I know this is debatable but do you reckon only Stevey G should play as the creating midfielder, Barry as the holding midfielder and we go for 2 genuine wingers to be a more attacking threat? Obviously this means Lampard (I don't dislike his game) drops to the bench as he's just not at top form and Gerrard alongside him just seems not to work at the crucial occasions.

Also Heskey puts in great shifts but I think Defoe or Crouch who has shown great goal scoring poise at the International level deserve a start.

Maybe Capello's got to take a bold decision or two, also keeping in mind all 4 teams from the group can progress and it may well come down to goal difference but I have a feeling England will make it.

Lampard has been very poor this world cup, and in fact in most games for England looks a shadow of the player who turns up for Chelsea week in week out, but then that is hardly only him, many of our other players.

I would go with Gerrard off Rooney, joe Cole on the left to add so creativity, and ball holding.

I will make a simple point, England world cup bid of 2003 in Rugby looked awful at times but one player, called Mike Catt kept coming on and helped the team to calm down, added some creative spark and ideas. I think Joe Cole would do a similar role to that of Catts. Although we dont play a possesion game we do need some, and he holds the ball well, and would allow other players like lampard, gerrard to make runs etc.

fingers crossed for tomorrow

Well it's been a World Cup full of shocks and surprises but good to see the Dutch and Argentina are having good outings after long.

Sad exit for Ghana though, it would be great if they could make the semis. Guys any predictions for the big one Argentina vs Germany?
