"Re: Wrinkle finish paint for Maserati rocker covers:

....There’s not much choice I’m afraid. The only crackle finish paint we’ve found available in aerosol is called VHT. It is slightly darker than the original but it’s Hobson’s choice!..

Has any one tried this on theirs and what were the results?

I have a couple of areas where the paint has come off and I expect in time these will only get larger.

Frosts Crinkle finish paint is the dogs danglies. Used it on the Fezza's cam covers, and can highly recommend it.

I used the VHT in Black for the Ghibli cam covers.  It took a couple of cans and the results weren't too bad.  You need to do it it a warm environment (21 - 32 deg C) and lay on at least 3 coats in different directions, alternately spraying vertically, horizontally and diagonally and leaving a few minutes between coats.  It goes on looking smooth and you can watch it wrinkle as it dries.

Practice makes perfect and I would like to have another go as I think I sprayed it on too thick and it gathers in certain areas so go steady with it.  It's no substitute for a professional job of course, I've noticed a couple of chips out of it already.

You'll need at least two cans as you don't want to run oun out part way through.  You need to get all of your coats on within 30 minutes and you can't apply more once it starts to wrinkle.  Oh! and one of the cans I bought had a problem, maybe too much solvent as it just pi**ed out a thin black watery mess.

There was  a man on fchat used powder coating - the result was a high gloss smooth finish. The wrinkle paint is more likely to catch bits of dirt and oil, whereas the powder coat is just wipe clean.

I may look into it later this year as mine need doing.
