hi everyone i know i should only be discussing maserati's but i ran into a problem yesterday, a damn concrete mixer seems to have splashed wet concrete onto my existing car bonnet and windscreen. How do i get it off, i have already taken it to the car wash which i think was a bad idea as the car is now very clean except for these damn stains please someone suggest something, as i am thinking of selling my car this forth coming week and i doubt i will be able to sell it for anything if it has concrete splashes all over the bonnet. please someone a quick solution short of my buying a new bonnet please.

cheers all

Depends on size of splashes you could use a Kango drill or you could try the following......

I am a builder and when we want to clean small amounts af cement and concrete splash off surfaces we use an acetone based cleaner, often sold as a "patio cleaner" etc. available from builders merchants, B&Q etc

TAKE CAUTION IT CAN BE DAMAGING TO SOME SURFACES AND PAINTS.

DOUBLE CHECK THE CONTENTS AND CAUTIONS ON THE CONTAINER

TEST A HIDDEN AREA FIRST.

I have used it on the pick up truck and it was successful but that doesn't mean it will be on your paintwork.

Also as you loosen the hard concrete the sand mixture WILL scratch the paint work wash it off with loads of water

I would apply with a very soft paint brush allow to soak in and agitate it with a very soft paint brush under a running hose. work a small piece at a time but I reiterate test a small hidden area first and be very very careful.

you will need to wash whole car and put a very good polish on after or will probably have little dull spots / patches

THIS IS YOUR RESPONSIBILTY NOT MINE....BIG DISCLAIMER!!!

Good Luck

no worries malcolm i would not hold it against you, i thought about that but most acetone based solvants strip paints, i need to find something that will take it off in the wash or it will take the paint with it, i heard there are good cleaning solvants avalible at bmw workshops, do you know anything about that?? anyway thats for the info cheers

sorry for the late reply have been on holiday, i tried before i left, on a little discreet section but no luck it only scratched the paint lacquer so it looks more matt but one has to really look hard. i took it across to bmw (who are absolutely useless) and they have quoted me 240 plus vat to take it off as they would do a machine buffing and polish it up. the thing is thats too much for a valet to be honest as in its too much for a mini you know. so i am looking into somewhere else i am off to halfords tomorrow to find any product that might be able to sort this out. need to sell the car this week so i can get the maserati. cheers for the help though

Sorry to hear no success yet.

There two problems here.....the sand in the mix will scratch the paint if agitated hard but also cement is very alkalkine and therefore will "etch" into many surfaces. It will be a big "T cut" session after you manage to get it off!

Good luck
