Hi,

I see a lot of posts here regarding replacement exhaust systems and was wondering if anyone has had any problems with insurance - I presume you need to answer "yes" to the "has your car been modified" question - is that a dealbreaker or does it add huge costs?

Rhys,

I think this sort of thing is very dependent on your insurance company, if you wish to declare, some companies are ok with this sort of modification and you wont incur any additional charges, whereas other companies take a very dim view of modifications and load your premium, and obviously there will be those in the middle of the 2 extremes.

Rhys,
My advice would be YES, declare it...the insurance company needs to know about any modifications!
Most will add something to the premium as there may be an increase in horsepower,
this differs company to company, but normally it goes in bands, i.e 0 - 10% increase etc...
When I had the Larini system fitted to mine, it added about £100 to my premium (on an annual basis).
Regards,
Enzo.

 Enzo,

I am considering replacing the rear section (back boxes) only.  Is there more than one route to supply and fit?  What is the most cost effective option?  You have chosen Larini.  Are you happy with your system?    Do you still favour this over other systems eg Tubi style?

Regards,

Paul

Hi Paul,
All I can say is that I am extremely happy with the work that Larini did.
The fit, finish, workmanship, quality, all in all I cannot recommend them highly enough...
I also love the sound my car makes, but cannot compare it to any other system as I have only
had the Larinis, never had tubi or others...
The rear boxes are a straight swap for the originals, so any competent mechanic can swap them over,
they just need to be a little careful not to damage the surrounding paintwork when installing them.
Regards,
Enzo.

Thanks Enzo,

The horizon beckoned as the huge low profile tyres ripped up the tarmac as they scrabbled for grip. I was pressed into my seat as the the QP surged forward in hostile pursuit. With exhaust howling...................   Oh sorry about this I thought I was somewhere else if you know what I mean!

Paul

PS   I wonder if you will smirk when you read this!
