Status: offline 		I noticed today on several random occasions 6th gear was flashing in the dashboard. Never seen that before? Any ideas?

Status: offline 		Never come across that one before michael, or heard of it on either of the forums , guess there arent too many dealer shops with sd3 nearby to get it checked out , I would try a battery reset for 30 mins first then if it happens again ring miles at emblem and explain the symptoms of when it happens   im  sure he will advise accordingly

Status: offline 		Hi Loz. I have to take it into Maserati anyway tomorrow as it's shuddering and squeaking a bit when I take off hard in 1st or second. I guess my poor clutch is coming to the end.

I doubt there will be anything to read on the SD3 as there was no error light?

Status: offline 		Keep us posted Michael as to the outcome , might be one to post as a sticky as a tell tale sign , sure you werent just screaming it in fifth at 8000rpm and it was letting you know that the poor engine was needing 6th to ease the pain  
what are the clutch labour charges out there be sure to post when you have had the damage report .

Status: offline 		Unfortunately not :) I was plodding along at 2000 rpm in 6th. I tried putting it into auto to see if it didn't like the gear but it just stayed put. I had the same at different RPMs throughout the day so  I don't think that is the answer.

As for labour I get everything done directly at Maserati and it usually works out half the price you guys post on the forum here. I don't think you'd save much money driving out here to get your service done though ;)

Status: offline 		Sorry to dig up an old thread, but this is exactly what mine is doing!

First did it on a long run about 9 months ago, change down, change up again, went away.

Haven't noticed it for ages, but did it again tonight on the way home.

Strange thing was, at 3000rpm it seemed fine, drop to 2500rpm for 30 seconds or so, and the 6 started flashing.  Change down/up, accelerate, 6 on constantly.

My clutch release bearing has been noisy since I've owned the car (coming up 3 years), as the clutch was only worn by about 20%, dealer suggested putting up with the squeak until the clutch needed doing.  Nearly three years later, clutch still fine (for now....) and loathed to replace a half-worn clutch just to fit a new release bearing.  Unless this is something related to the flashing 6, and a potential cause of future heartache?

Any ideas anyone?

Status: offline 		Recently brought a 2003 4200cc and have had exactly the same issue with the flashing gear indicator. I also have a noisy clutch release bearing but a clutch with not enough wear to warrant changing at the moment.

Would be interested to know what's causing it also.

Status: offline 		Hard to speculate , and could be a number of things , could well be clutch kiss point well out of sync,   hydraulic oil  for F1 pump low gearbox oil low ,  gearbox actuator  , have you had a clucth reading ,  they recommend changing the clutch at 75% worn but the car will operate well way past that untill it goes, best is to ring Myles at Emblem sports  and relay your symptoms to him

Just had car serviced prior to our planned continental trip down to watch Mille Miglia.

Mine did the flashing light bit on Saturday on way home from Italy when stopped overnight just short of Calais.

Next morning fired up pulled away and green gear selected number and temp flashing, on 1 sec, off 1 sec, also in N. Stopped did battery re-set for 30 seconds, all OK. Fine rest of trip.

Car is 07 Gransport.

CEL light lit on day 3 of trip but battery reset cleared, however, if car stopped and then restarted light back on. probably needs fault clearing. Once battery reset is done, light stays out until next time you fire motor? Who knows?

Otherwise 2500k of uneventful driving,........oh apart from loosing sat nav voice guidance when we exited channel tunnel??

Any suggestions welcome.

I also noticed the same on my long run back from Supercar Sunday in Gaydon yesterday.

Only in 6th gear, at speed, well into the run home.

As mentioned in earlier threads it went away when i changed down to 5th and back to 6th, only to re-occur later in the journey.

I took the car into Dick Lovett to check out under warranty and apparently it was a result of the CEL fault, the engine management unit talks to the gearbox management unit and they think the one fault was generating the other. CEl now resolved and cleared gear light has not flashed since.

Still can't sort the satnav even after re-loading disc?

I saw a similar symptom one week ago: the gear display started flashing when on reverse, and
then it kept on flashing at every gear. I stopped the car after a few hundred meters, turned it off,
and reached for the manual. There, I could read that a flashing gear display indicates that the gear
is not correctly engaged. I then restarted the car, and the flashing was gone. I've driven my
Gransport 2004 for about 20'000 km, and I have seen this symptom only once, just after the
Cambiocorsa actuator was replaced.
