Hi Peeps,
Looks like I too have this problem (and another related to maybe engine management? - will post appropriately).
I arrived back from Stanford Hall yesterday evening. Had been running a/c there and back. When I got out I saw water draining under the driver's footwell and expecting this to be condensate from the a/c, thought all was well,

Then I found that the carpet in the passenger foot well was very soggy. I removed the carpet and saw a dribble of water running down the metal plate from under the glove box.

It seems a bit strange to have condensate clearly running from the drain to the outside and yet having a sodden carpet too - comments anyone?

Water in the passenger footwell is normally the drain tube blocked

Paul
I would certainly give the advise contained in this thread a try. I can be a common problem with cars that have lived outside quite a lot. Try pulling the pipe out in the drivers footwell and see what comes out. Be prepared for a waterfall!!
That's easier than pulling the wipers and plastics etc off, but you will have to do that to replace the pollen filter if it is full of water.
Could be linked to your other problem.

Thanks David.
BTW, sorry I never got to chat with any of you at Bristol. It was a very busy day for me, 11 hours constantly on the go.

No problem, Paul. Even more reason for us to go again next year

Do let us know if this sorts your "waterworks" out for you.

There is a fix for this listed under blocked air con pipes. Easy to find via search and takes about 1 hour.

Having done this myself I can testify that someone with minimal experience can deal with this!

Word of caution - when pulling the tube that feeds out of the car, only pull it up from the square connector gently and not towards you.  If it comes off the connector further inside the car you will have a tough job re-attaching!  In my case, this tube had been damaged and repaired not so well.  It was also crushed and I think this was causing the water backing up to the passenger footwell so it had to be removed.

As regards access to the pollen filter - it feels like someone designed it to be awkward!  Hardest part for me was a) removing central wiper - took a lot of force and b) fiddling around with the screws holding the pollen filter in as you really need to disconnect and move slightly the wiper motor.  My pollen filter was a bit damp on the bottom 1/4 but was clean and no debris in there so not too bad and glad I investigated when I did.  I had to use a local indie to re-fit the damaged pipe section - they also replaced the fan rheostat as low speed fan wasn't working (hadn't noticed).  It's reassuring dropping your car off knowing in detail what is required.

cheers
Adam
