guys

just reading your interesting thread. the car sounds very similar to my set-up, even down to the forge blow off valves, the differences only being that i'm running a turbosmart e-boost and a plx data logger and wideband (and i have the wideband feeding back into the ECU as a 0-1 volt signal to replace the stock narrowband).

the fuel injectors don't seem right? i'm pretty sure modena-tec don't change these out on their cars and i know that my car was set up to run pretty rich when it was delivering 330hp (it's only producing 300hp at the moment but i think i've figured out why). i have a dyno chart showing the car running 330hp with lambda around 0.8 and about 1.2 bar inlet pressure. check the part numbers, but i suspect it's the same injector on the V8, with the 3200 GT giving easy 370hp and on the cup cars which give 330hp stock, but with lots of people getting more than that out of them.

actually, here it is: http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/6590/2131/1600/Rica%20dyno%20results%20phase%20I_Page_3.jpg

the torque curve isn't great... was taking a while to build up pressure... i think this was due to a leak in the inlet system... now it spools up great (reaches full boost around 4000 rpm, even with the larger 3200 GT turbos)), but then then does something strange, i think the ECU is backing off the timing... i think because there's a leak in the vacuum hose to the boost controller, so the controller thinks the pressure is lower than it actually is, hence it's actually over-boosting the engine and so the ECU is dialling back the timing and running it rich... but still to check this out... but it's what the data logger implies.

here's the latest one: http://bp0.blogger.com/_LhH1L1XZ6U8/RuZC67xVTeI/AAAAAAAAA9k/CDMrTr0JXm8/s1600-h/sc0059ec38.jpg

i know of someone in norway who had his head polished etc and the car would not run at idle because it was too lean with the extra air flow... he changed the pressure regulator to a manual variable one and just increased the pressure and it runs fine now, so indeed i think if you increased the fuel pressure it might solve your problems? i understand this is a common thing to do sierra cosworth engines and that the stock fuel pump can handle it ok.

would be interested to find out more about programming the ECU, since at the moment i have to rely on a chip-tuner and was planning on installing a new ECU so that i could program it myself... but if i could program the stock one then i'd consider keeping it like it is for a while (although i do want to replace my distributor system with a direct ignition one).

cheers... jonny.
