First post, so please be gentle. I am in the process of building a road going replica of a 250f. The car has now gone for bodywork, (aluminium), and I am trying to find out the correct paint code for a 1957 lightweight, chassis 2529 as driven by Fangio would be perfect. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Does this help?

http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:MHLiIXEgJ4IJ:en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosso_corsa+ITALIAN+RACING+RED&cd=2&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk&source=www.google.co.uk

Bear in mind the fact that shades change over the years (I'm told there are loads of ofificial versions of Brooklands Green), so the Rosso Corsa of the 50's may differ from that of today.

Thanks for that. I will speak to the painter, and we will see. Fingers crossed.

This is a picture (hopefully) of the car at the moment. With a bit of luck, the bodywork will be finished in a couple of weeks, and then I can get the car back and crack on with the last few bits before testing and road registering.

Hi Andy and welcome to the Forum.
That's a stunning looking car you have there and the workmanship looks meticulous.
If you can spare the time, will you keep us updated with pictures etc, I know there will be lots of other members interested in your progress.
Good luck,
Ronnie

That's looking really good. Where abouts are you based? Will we be able to see it in the flesh one day?

Based just outside southwell in notts. The rush is on to get it ready, as I want to drive it down to angouleme in september. However, when it comes back from bodywork, you ,or anybody else is more than welcome to come and have a look. potentially, I have 6-8 orders for the car, depending how she looks when finished.

That look absolutely fabulous! What engine/spec?

Must be a cracking car to drive!

What would you use it for? I assume it won't be road legal?

Would love to see it in the flesh one day!

The engine is BMW 2.5 litre. Rebuilt, running on triple webers. gearbox is getrag close ratio, dog leg pattern, so as to keep as close as possible to original 250f spec. chassis is my own design, based around an original, but with more cross bracing. Its a bit longer than an original, mainly because at 6'3' I need to fit!! It will be road legal, in fact the SVA have been very helpful with advice, conformity etc. And the body is aluminium, and if I may say looks even better in the flesh.
