Hello Folks, I have now rebuilt my merak engine, and its a 2 coil unit, and it also has 2 electronic ignition boxes.

I have not  got info I need to getb it to run can I just wire up the coils direct from the battery and give it a go?

Hey Peter,

sorry I can't help you directly, but I just had to say "great work"!

To answer this; I would try looking at period schematics for similar aged cars- alot of Ghibli questions can be answered with Fiat schematics from the 90's I find... Is Merak info still available? It must be...

what a great compact unit that V6 is; lovely to see all cleaned up- what does the splined shaft above the flywheel do?

Your link should work directly from this;

Thank you for adding the link, I am not good with computers at all. the shaft above the flywheel is driven from a chain at the front of the engine, then from that shaft 2 chains are run driving the camshafts on either side of the engine. the rear of the shaft has another purpose, to drive the alternator, and the air conditioning pump, through another shaft, I would really appreciate a diagram if some good soul has one. to       fenlon7@gmail.com

Peter,

the Merak's a relatively "recent" car in the marque history, you will certainly be able to get the information you need- however you could wait a while to get it for free- have you considered buying the info you need...?
