hi all, the aircon in my 95 maserati ghibli is quite slack, it barley cools me down on a hot day, it has been regassed, it has no leaks, just looking for some insight, do these have a pollen filter that could be clogged up or an internal fan that isnt functioning, any ideas guys?

Hi granca,

let me ask you this; do the radiator fans come on when the AC is running?

& Do you notice a slight clunk and a drop in engine revs when you go into full AUTO?

HI Granca69
I had the same problem in my 1996 Quattroporte.  It was temperature sensor inside the heat  unit under the dash board had failed. It is a very big job to take out and replace but want the air con man did was bolt on an adjustable temperature sensor and feed it in next to the old sensor. He then adjusted it and it now runs perfectly and reasonable cheap.
Have a look at this website http://eurospares.co.uk/partsListing.asp?M=3&Mo=511&A=2&B=28708&S=&ID4=1183712
I think it is part number 19 on the diagram. Maserati Temperature Sensor Part No 315520206 but as I said I used an adjustable after market Sensor.

Good Luck

i know the fans come on cause in mine the fans are loud, but i never notice the difference going from auto to manually selecting the fan speed and tempreture, the description says defrosting thermostat, does that pick up the insider tempreture of the car? and adjust the aircon according?, will try find it and sus it out, cant tell by the diagream, where exactly does it sit

Ha!

Looks like Rich has nailed it there.

I think it's purpose granca would be to assess incoming air temperature. You can almost see where it would be in this shot.

The interior temperature is monitored by a pickup the roof next to the rear view mirror...

Hi
If it is any help I can photo the work done on my car, how it was mounted and upload it.
I can also find out the part number and name if you want?
It is a very simple job to install and all the aircon man did after was adjust the temperature sensor while the air con was running.
The temperature sensor is in the driver side well under the car against the heater unit up the top and the sensor runs off that in the middle of the heater unit.

Happy Driving
