My newly aquired 4200 cc's rear brake lights and reverse sensors do not seam to be working. I have read from a recent post that it could be a fuse that has blown some ware near the reverse shifter. However I cannot find it. does anyone have a pic or diagram as to what to do and where excactly it is. Sorry to sound like I have no idea what I am doing but this car is taking a bit of getting used to.

Is this what you were looking for?

Are the brake light bulbs OK? Lower middle. The fuse for reverse gear, parking sensors, CAN line interface, mirror memory, electronic mirror rear is a brown 7.5amp in position 11 of box N in the boot above the battery in front side area which is the top one of the two larger ones. Fuse 11 is top left.

i had the same issue on my 4200, turned out to be the relay (found in the boot). Tell tell sign, no reversing lights / sensors or dipping wing mirrors. If the fuse is ok, i would change this out.

relay ans fuses are both in the boot on the right hand side under the panel with the battery. if you have the manual it will tell you the fuse and relay number along with position.

Subletely worded Aliquot!
M4,You seem to have missed my previous post as to where the fuses are located. Scroll up and you will find the post from me dated 31.08.2010 timed 19.05.12 telling you the fuse siting and positions. In case you do not know how to access a link, then all you have to do is double-click on it to access that posting. The relay is in the boot as previously described, unit N  where fuse is, but the middle top panel relay which is a micro 20A. I would look at fuses first, then the reverse switch connections, then the relay. If you have problems in using our forum site then please feel free to PM me for assistance

Just checked the boot fuse and relay seems ok. Any other ideas? Are there any meetings up here in yorkshire as it would be nice for one of you guys to have a look over my car to see what you think of it. I love it

I live in Yorkshire, near Barnsley. However in the meantime if you go to r70rcm.com you will find some 4200 manuals that might help.

Do the mirrors dip when you select reverse?

If not have you ruled out that the sender has failed? When I collected my manual coupe the reversing lights did not work and mirrors didn't dip. Turned out that the small sender located adjacent to reverse gear had failed. I think the cc has something similar fitted adjacent to the reverse gear toggle?

It was an easy diy fitting and the part was not expensive.

Checed relay in boot. All seams ok. Sounds like it could be some thing else. Is the something. Or fuse near the reverse selector. Any pics of location would help. Just found the down load of the manual but cannt find the relevant section. Looks like it might be a trip to marios

Try visiting this link again:
http://www.maseratiforum.co.uk/fb.asp?m=56845
What we are referring to is the reverse selector lever in the central trunk below the Sat Nav unit which is an oval plate which can be prised out, and then check the connections underneath, in case they have become disconnected/bad connection.

and if I could just add Stephen, what you will find is a small plastic switch with a push rod that is pushed in when reverse is selected. This was the unit that failed on my car. I am not sure how you can check it has failed, I just got the (cheap) part as a chat with the dealer indicated failure was not unusual.
